new years eve, 2009
i asked toby if he wanted to try to stay up this year for new year's eve. he said, "of course!" i thought for sure he wouldn't be able to make it past 10pm. well, he did last, and last, and last.
he stayed up and energetic the whole night. he was playing with his legos in the dining room when matthew and i sat down to watch an episode of arrested development at about 11:20 pm. when we finished it, at 11:45, we found this...................
completely knocked out. we then debated whether or not to wake him up. we decided he had made it so close, he would be crushed to find out that he missed it. so, we tried to wake him up.
it took 3 or 4 tries, but he woke up, and got to see his first new year's eve countdown. i don't think he was that impressed. but that could have been the sleepiness ruling his reaction.
sweet boy.

christmas 09
it's miller's first christmas! we got him a couple of really cute ornaments- which are now packed away, or i'd take a picture to upload. and we started the "elf on the shelf" tradition. we also had the honor of having my sister, mystee, and her son, matthew, staying with us.
keeping with our usual routine, we did stockings, then had breakfast, then opened the rest of the presents.
excited boys at the top of the stairs........
the unwrapping begins.........
i think, he might be excited about the legos santa brought.....and it didn't take him very long to put the bulldozer together......
toby also got a special present in the back yard from mommy and daddy, nana and bumpa, and grandma and pappy....
a couple days later, cousin matthew helped him learn to ride without the training wheels! big step!
cookies for a breakfast dessert is ok on christmas!
it was a lovely morning, then the four of us left for jim and sandi's for more festivities and lunch. then, we came home to host the leno side of the family for even more fesivities and dinner. what a long, but wonderful day! my photog, matthew didn't take anything after the first part of the day- but i promise it was all good!
